Hayward, CA – The Alameda County Democratic Party announces the hiring of Jennifer Longley as its new Executive Director effective immediately.
A Bay Area native, Ms. Longley comes to the position with over 10 years of experience in political strategy, media, organizing, fundraising, and organizational development for candidates, issues and organizations statewide. She also brings significant Party organizational experience to the role, having served as President of the California Young Democrats from 2011-2013.
Longley has significant on-the-ground experience in Alameda County including key roles as a Field Director for Joan Buchanan for Congress and Northern California Field Director for the California Democratic Party. She has recently been serving as a strategist assisting municipal candidates for office and helping local governments throughout California raise revenue.
The Alameda County Democratic Party’s hiring committee conducted an intensive search to fill the position, interviewing several candidates before recommending Ms. Longley. The choice of Ms. Longley as Executive Director was approved by a vote of the Party’s governing body, the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee, at its June meeting.
As Executive Director, Ms. Longley will be in charge of day-to-day administration as well as organizing key countywide and local events and partnerships, strengthening the Party’s fundraising, and overseeing special projects. Her hiring comes at a time when Alameda County Democrats are promoting key progressive initiatives at a municipal level and gearing up to help target vulnerable Republicans in 2018.
