RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A DOMESTIC WORKERS BILL OF RIGHTS

Adopted by the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee Wednesday, August 7, 2013

WHEREAS, domestic workers often labor under harsh conditions, work long hours for low wages without benefits or job security, and face termination without notice or severance pay leaving many suddenly without income; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to specially regulate the wages, hours, and working conditions of domestic work employees;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Alameda County Central Democratic Committee (ACDCC) shall register its support for a California Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the ACDCC shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Offices of Assemblymember Ammiano, members of the Assembly and State Senate delegation representing Alameda County, and any other appropriate state-level decision-makers as determined by the ACDCC Executive Committee.
